Celebrity Elves Distribute Toys to Save the Women’s Care Cottage

Jey Associates client Ragan Brooks Hands out Gifts

(Los Angeles) December 14, 2009 – Celebrity Elves Stephen Bishop (CSI:Miami), Todd Duffey (Office Space), Lauren Maher (Pirates of the Caribbean) and Ragan Brooks (Desperate Housewives, Eastwick) (among other notables) showed their support in downtown Los Angeles Friday night to raise awareness for the plight of the Women’s Care Cottage (WCC). The volunteer elves spent part of the evening handing out gifts and decorating Christmas cookies, coloring and filling holiday candy bags with the children.

The Woodland Hills Total Woman Gym & Day Spa donated a large percentage of toys from their annual Toy Drive to the Women’s Care Cottage. The donation and celebrity elf event were part of a larger effort to raise awareness and funds to help the Women’s Care Cottage, which of late has been in grave danger of closing its doors after 25 years of service to the community.

About Women’s Car Cottage:
For the past 25 years, WCC has been a lifeline for more than 50,000 homeless women and children, providing immediate safe housing, job training and trauma intervention . 2009 was a financially difficult year with a dramatic drop in donations. At the same time, the number of women and children entering the center skyrocketed from 1,900 in 2008 to more than 4,000 in 2009.
